I ate there twice, food is very good, prices are good, unfortunately 1 out of the 2 times the service was very poor. But I think still worth going to, waitress probably was having a bad day...
I recommend a small ones to start and then a pavilion, you will be satisfied 😊
Affordable South American food!
Yes to Cachapas
Nice scene for Latin American food. Came in on a Weds. Service treated us so kindly. It has a nice feel to it. Food is like a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
Loved the food and ambience!! Our server was one of the most courteous and delightful people I've ever met.
If the pastries are not fresh, then they're just so-so. But, that's to be expected, right? Everything else there is really good Latino comfort food! The service was always top notch in our experience. The bathroom could have been cleaner than I found it. But not bad enough to dock a star. When we are back in Dallas, we will definitely stop there again.
A top place for tasty Latin American food. Great place to relax, people watch, eat good food or all the above. I had a cousin come into town and she asked me to go back here. The bill was good for how much you get. They have so many good reviews for a reason.
The food was very good, the service was average at best. Very slow to come to the table. Waited long for anything...
Must try spot. Authentic food and cozy decor. I’ll definitely be back.
Excellent location for delicious Latin American food. Certainly a top place in the area. The service here is above par. The bill won't shock you.
Went here with my Venezuelan friend, he previously enjoyed the food. Both our meats were dry, chicken steak and beef. We asked for 2 drinks to go, and 1 of them was dented badly. Nice atmosphere and service, men's bathroom was Reaking into the dining area.
They assume that we need to know about a gratuity fee of 20% over having a party of 6 ,printed in small print in the bottom of the menu, very shady, the service isn't prompt the place smells like gas.
Excited to visit Zaguan Latin Cafe after seeing it on three different sites. I enjoyed my meal of one of the specialities, along with a couple of croissants to enjoy the next morning. I visited about an hour before closing so I experienced the dining room floors being cleaned while enjoying my meal, which wasn’t the best. The staff was very friendly, quick, and accommodating; and the prices were very reasonable for portion sizes. I would definitely say the restaurant is in need of some love in the decorating and maintenance departments. I will return, because the food was good; my rating will go up!
RUDE SERVICE!!!! RUSHING ORDER ON PHONE , HUNG UP TWICE !!! DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!! IF I COULD RATE NO STARS I WOULD
Service was slow and was smelling no really good. Food was good!
Latin American food, super yummy. One of the best spots of its kind in the area. The service here is attentive. The bill was fair. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I loved.
Dessert was terribly too sweet and overpriced. Coffee was good but I wasn't fond of how slow the service was. Not really a place I would want to come back to or that stood out to me. We didn't try the food since we were only looking for dessert. The tiramasu tasted nothing like coffee and the flan was way too sugary. Ambiance was nice which is all I can say I really enjoyed besides the coffee.
Amazing arepas and Venezuelan food. I try to go at least every month. Their fruit smoothies are fresh and delicious
Pretty authentic Latin cuisine. Waitress was very patient explaining the menu to me. I tried the papaya and mango gelato milkshake, two of my favorite fruits. I love it. I also had the beef and cheese area with plantain chips. Everything tasted homemade and fresh.
I ordered a bunch of food as shown in the picture. I loved almost everything.Zaguan platter (appetizer) had these amazing yucca, fried sweet plantains, plantain chips.Latin crepe was baked chicken covered in ricotta cheese.Well-flavored shrimp & broccoli.Tilapia was cooked very carefully. Crispy outside and softer inside.I was able to feel the distinct flavor of their rice alongside the chicken.Everything was so yumm that I had hard time to get back to work with all the eating 😋
The food is nothing special since they seemed to take the easiest and most common items from South America and put them in their menu. Peru has such rich and amazing culinary culture and I didn't see dishes that made justice to it, just some street food that isn't really the best. The service is good yet slow, the waitresses are really kind and nice but I still don't understand why they won so many awards for food that doesn't really stand out. Everything that has a pastry is good because they are mainly a bakery so shoot for those dishes or entrées.
The fried cheese was really good. The omelette ratios were off, but still decent.
Best Latin food I have had in dallas!
Good food, especially the beef.
Arepas are amazing. Mouth watering. Mmmmmm
Super delicious. YOU CAN GET A FRUIT SMOOTHIE MADE WITH GELATO HERE. Basically a fruit milkshake made with gelato. The arepas are muyyyyy ricas. Will be back.
The place is ok, food ok, love my cheese arepa and empanadas. Good service but to expensive for a coffee shop$$$$$$$$
The food is amazing!!
Never dissapoints. Every time I've gone the food has been consistently good.
I like this place! They have first-rate meals, their menu is rich, The chief cook in that spot is a real pro, I enjoy very much trying all their food. The dishes are consistently good, the attitude towards the customers is good. I go often to this restaurant and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it to all.
Delicious Latin and South American food! I like coming here once in awhile for a casual lunch! Coffee is strong! Healthy fresh fruit frappes! My favorite is their "CACHAPAS" filled with my choice of shredded beef and vegetables, and, sweet plantains as my side - simply fantastic! Friendly Staff! Decorative yet dark is its interior! Good prices! A nice bakery they have for take-outs! Plenty of parking in front!
Food is amazing! Fast service! Nice staff! Quick food prep! Very cute! Good prices!
Nice place and very good attention, Juanito is the best. he is always willing to help and take care of the customers.
I ordered the #2, the arepa. They brought me a plate of food and left. When I was 2/3 done with my dinner someone finally asked me how the food was. I told them that it was quite sweet which I didn't care for. They explained that the #1, the cachapa was supposed to be sweet. So, it wasn't what I ordered and they offer to make me the correct meal. I substituted a salad for the chips and I was told that it would come with balsamic dressing. What it came with is a cruet set of oil and vinegar. The food was tasty but the service was horrible. After bringing me the second plate of food, no one checked on me until I was almost finished. There was only one other family seated in the restaurant and I counted 5 employees. Hence the 3 star rating. Dining is a whole experience from the food, to the ambiance, to the service and Zagua couldn't bring it together to provide the experience.
I had been craving a cheese cachapa for months and finally my friend and I went today. It was all I remembered 😋. We also had pineapple-Passion fruit juice and it tasted so fresh. We sat outside and it was great!
Best Venezuelan food I've had in the US. Hands down. Anytime we drive through Dallas, my family makes it a point to stop here and load up on our favorites. The cachapas are to die for.
Great Latin style restaurant on Oak Lawn Ave. Breakfast served all day as well as dinner entries. Nice selection of dessert choices.
Latin American food and the scene at this place is excellent. service is always prompt even when they have a full house. staff treated us so nice. the prices are fair for the quality of food. i can see why they have so many reviews.
Rice with no flavor. Battering good on the milanese, but no lime to go with it. Dry Plain salad. Sweet plantains can be found better somewhere else. And the Argentina empanadas have good stuffing but that poor salsa from a can kills it. Over all way over priced for what it is. The location is cute and the vibe and service is great but they for sure know this is not worth the price. $50 for something that should've been maybe 25$. I will say the drinks have real fruit, so that's good.
My favorite restaurant in Dallas. It's authentic Venezuelan / Colombian cuisine. Great great great. Reasonable prices, great staff. Great atmosphere.
Incredible little place. My first time and I'll definitely be back. Such a quaint little place. Perfect for lunch.
This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! We will definitely be coming back! Quick service as well. The only downfall is the smell of sewage when you walk in.
Horrible service two people at are the counter and I'm ignored by both, another person comes from the back and looks at me and walks away. After 10 mins of standing in an empty room i walk out never acknowledged.
Just to clarify before you read this review, I’m Venezuelan, so I had bigger expectations about this place:- Tequenos were not even average. The dough doesn’t taste like wheat dough. Cheese was bland - Frescolita ❤️❤️❤️- Pirucream ❤️❤️❤️- No chocolate stuffed tequenos. Really?????- The Music was good
It was okay. It was empty on a Friday night. Ordered from the chef special section. Presentation okay but a huge empty spot on my plate that I wish had a side dish or something with it. Quality of meal, just okay. I have had much better. Usually if your paying for inflated prices you are really paying for the ambiance. This place was empty, had more of an Italian vibe than a South American vibe, and was playing music that made me want to take a nap. I wouldn't come back if it was my choice to select where I want to eat.
I certainly like the dishes and customer service, great area nearby to my residence. The employees are always very kind. Highly recommended.
love this place. very authentic. the #2 was great
Was first introduced to Zaguan by a friend almost 8 yrs ago during my first visit to Dallas, and fell in love with it. So when I moved here, you know it was my first stop. LOLThere is nothing on the menu that is not tasty. My standard go-to is a lovely mojito with cheese empinadas as an appetizer, followed by the Zaguan steak with a side order of the black beans AND the Brazo Gitano with a cappuccino to close out the festivities as my lovely desert. It's A LOT of food. I know that. And no, I never finish it all...well not my appetizer OR my meal, but I definitely devour the Brazo Gitano. 🤣 Tonight I promised myself that I would try something new...next time. I'll update this if that actually happens because like I said my current standard go-to is soooo good.🤷🏾♀️🤣
The food I tried was very good. It’s a bit confusing for me since I don’t know what a lot of these items are. I think the menu needs more descriptions and pictures. But I also feel like whatever you order is good.
Interesting and wide range of food from South America. A lot of the menu items listed their country of origin which made for an even more cultured experience. They also have a picture menu. The alcohol menu is small but they have plenty of food to choose from.
The food is so good and so fulfilling. I can't wait to go back. Everything was so flavorful and appetizing.
We ordered churros and chocolate for breakfast. The presentation was ok but the churros (4) were submerged in oil and sugar, making it hard to handle and eat. We know that churros are fried and sometimes have sugar on top, but this time was over normal. We just ate 1 of 4. We told to the waitress to pass on the message to the kitchen because we have eaten churros in different countries and we’ve never seen churros like these. The churro must be drained and cooled down for a bit before being sprinkled with sugar, because you end up drinking fried oil mixed with sugar and it is very unconfortable both in your hands and your mouth. It is a personal suggestion, tell the stuff in the kitchen to lower the use of oil or at least drain it. We paid for them, $14 for two plates, which I think many people wouldn’t accept something like this.
Love this place for very many reasons.Service : Excellent.Food: authentic and delicious latin food for a very reasonable price.Arepas are with savory outer layer and cachapas have sweet outer layer.I like them both.Hot chocolate and cappuccino have a different taste as well.
